If you recall, Karen Carpenter and her brother Richard sang, wrote and played different instruments together and had a string of #1 hits that are still popular today. Their music was original and Karen’s voice was as sweet and pure as I have ever heard. Of the two she was the most popular and was often referred to as “America’s sweetheart”. The Carpenters were truly on top of the world until tragedy struck on February 4th, 1983.
On that day Karen passed away. The music world was stunned at her untimely death and millions mourned the loss of such a sweet and loving talent as Karen. Needless to say the Carpenters were no more but have gone down in the annals of music history as one of the most successful and beloved pop music groups of all time. It’s been many years since I heard the sweet and melodic voice of Karen Carpenter, that is until yesterday.
When I first heard her sing I thought that this was some type of lip sinking forgery but after seeing another video where she sang to Karen’s brother Richard I knew it was the real deal! He was visibly shaken by just how much she sounded like his sister and it was an emotional moment for both of them. I truly enjoyed watching these videos and if you want to take an amazing trip back in time you owe it to yourself to hear this lady sing. By the way, she doesn’t speak a word of English!
