If you could travel through time, when would you go?

To many people this may seem like a silly question but the truth is scientists agree that time travel is possible. In fact, the great Albert Einstein himself discovered that the faster you travel through space, the slower time is for you. You wouldn’t know it at the time but when you returned to earth, you would actually be far in the future!

As an example, let’s say you left the earth when you were 15 years old and your spaceship was travelling at 99.5% the speed of light (the faster your speed, the greater the time difference when you return). If you returned when you were 20 you would have been gone for 5 years, right? Well, not exactly. You would indeed be 20 years old but your friends of the same age would be 65! Believe it or not, this is a proven fact even if it is hard to comprehend.

Scientists say that there may also be other ways in which to travel into the future such as using worm holes or developing a type of “warp drive” that would actually bend time and space. It all gets very complicated but the ability to travel into the future is a fact. Unfortunately, most scientists agree that it is not possible to travel into the past.

But let’s say that a way to travel into the past was possible. Many people say that they would like to travel back in time to see the birth of Christ or to witness the dinosaurs before they became extinct. Others would choose famous historical events such as the assassination of President Lincoln or to watch WWII as it happened. Still others take a more personal approach to going back in time such as seeing a loved one that is no longer with us. I think all of these are great ideas and I can think of
many more.

So assuming that such a thing as visiting the past was actually possible, when would you go?
