You WILL believe in reincarnation after hearing this!

Usually when we talk about music much of what we “older folk” enjoy listening to is not the same as today’s young people. Some music however is able to transcend the age gap and seems to appeal to people of all ages. I can remember the pop duo the Carpenters in the 70’s and 80’s even though I may not have been around during the beginning years.

If you recall, Karen Carpenter and her brother Richard sang, wrote and played different instruments together and had a string of #1 hits that are still popular today. Their music was original and Karen’s voice was as sweet and pure as I have ever heard. Of the two she was the most popular and was often referred to as “America’s sweetheart”. The Carpenters were truly on top of the world until tragedy struck on February 4th, 1983.

On that day Karen passed away. The music world was stunned at her untimely death and millions mourned the loss of such a sweet and loving talent as Karen. Needless to say the Carpenters were no more but have gone down in the annals of music history as one of the most successful and beloved pop music groups of all time. It’s been many years since I heard the sweet and melodic voice of Karen Carpenter, that is until yesterday.

I was perusing YouTube on a lazy Sunday when I ran into a video titled “Karen Carpenter is back! Just listen to her voice!” Well, you see a lot of videos on YouTube claiming that a star has been “reborn” but I decided to give it a shot. I have never been more surprised in my life! The young Asian lady singing the song is Keiko Toge and she is AMAZING!

When I first heard her sing I thought that this was some type of lip sinking forgery but after seeing another video where she sang to Karen’s brother Richard I knew it was the real deal! He was visibly shaken by just how much she sounded like his sister and it was an emotional moment for both of them. I truly enjoyed watching these videos and if you want to take an amazing trip back in time you owe it to yourself to hear this lady sing. By the way, she doesn’t speak a word of English!

Here are the 2 videos that I’ve mentioned here. I promise it’s worth your time.
